Growth is the one thing every living organization or organism has in common. If it is alive or was alive, at some point it grew. But, while growth is everywhere, it is at the same time elusive.
There are many metaphors for growth. We chose headwaters, the place where a river is born. Rivers are born in tiny springs, muddy patches of ground, cracks in a mountain, even drainage ditches. But every mighty river can trace its origin to these humble places of inception, where multiple forces of nature come together to create something amazing.
